“Lisieroscope” : training tools on forest edges

Forest edges are dynamic habitats playing a particularly important role for biodiversity. The natural progression of many forest edges has been halted by anthropogenic barriers, limiting their extent and ecological potential. However, a few simple acts of management aiming at sturcturing and diversifying can make this environment attractive to a rich biodiversity.

The association Forêt.Nature has designed and installed two training tools to encourage the development and maintenance of structured, mixed forest edges. One is located in the Ardennes and the other in the Condroz. These ‘lisieroscopes’ provide an opportunity to practise tree marking in forest edges and to gain a better understanding of the challenges associated with these areas.
