Pour comprendre plus finement les m\u00e9canismes derri\u00e8re cette compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9, une \u00e9tude men\u00e9e en Chine a quantifi\u00e9 comment les diff\u00e9rences fonctionnelles et les caract\u00e9ristiques des branches entre arbres voisins influencent la compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 des couronnes d\u2019arbres. La m\u00e9thodologie de l\u2019\u00e9tude s\u2019est bas\u00e9e sur le balayage laser terrestre (LIDAR terrestre) \u00e0 haute r\u00e9solution.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9tude montre que la compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 des couronnes est largement influenc\u00e9e par la diversit\u00e9 fonctionnelle des houppiers (plasticit\u00e9 morphologique, surface foliaire et densit\u00e9 du bois) et des caract\u00e9ristiques des branches (densit\u00e9 des branches et intensit\u00e9 de la ramification). Ces r\u00e9sultats sugg\u00e8rent que le m\u00e9lange intime d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces permet aux arbres d&rsquo;occuper plus efficacement l&rsquo;espace de la canop\u00e9e, principalement gr\u00e2ce aux changements ph\u00e9notypiques qui peuvent \u00eatre provoqu\u00e9s par des diff\u00e9rences dans la diversit\u00e9 fonctionnelle des houppiers (plasticit\u00e9 li\u00e9e \u00e0 la structure externe de la couronne) ou par l&rsquo;intensit\u00e9 de la ramification (plasticit\u00e9 li\u00e9e \u00e0 la structure interne de la couronne).<\/p>\n<p>Ces r\u00e9sultats soulignent \u00e9galement la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de prendre en compte les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s internes des couronnes pour mieux comprendre et pr\u00e9voir le fonctionnement des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes forestiers.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>De nombreuses \u00e9tudes scientifiques ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 que la diversit\u00e9 en esp\u00e8ces d\u2019arbres augmente la productivit\u00e9 des for\u00eats en permettant une plus grande compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 spatiale des couronnes.
