Les vaisseaux conducteurs de s\u00e8ve se bouchent et limitent le caract\u00e8re impr\u00e9gnable du h\u00eatre. Si cette modification n\u2019alt\u00e8re pas les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s technologiques du bois, elle en change la couleur qui comme son nom l\u2019indique se teinte de rouge, rarement uniforme.
