Parmi toutes ces formes de vie, les bact\u00e9ries jouent un r\u00f4le important, avec des densit\u00e9s de cent millions de cellules par gramme de sol et cent mille esp\u00e8ces diff\u00e9rentes. Elles doivent constamment s\u2019adapter \u00e0 leur environnement : changement de substrat, disponibilit\u00e9 en nutriments, ou encore exposition \u00e0 des composants toxiques. En plus de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d\u2019une grande plasticit\u00e9 de ph\u00e9notypes, les bact\u00e9ries sont capables de transf\u00e9rer des g\u00e8nes ou groupes de g\u00e8nes au sein d\u2019une m\u00eame esp\u00e8ce et entre esp\u00e8ces. Cette capacit\u00e9 de transfert de g\u00e8nes est un des principaux moteurs de l\u2019\u00e9volution des bact\u00e9ries.<br \/>\nCes transferts sont influenc\u00e9s par diff\u00e9rents facteurs comme la compatibilit\u00e9 donneur-receveur, la disponibilit\u00e9 en nutriments, la temp\u00e9rature, le pH ou encore la mobilit\u00e9 des bact\u00e9ries dans le sol. Les mouvements volontaires des bact\u00e9ries sont limit\u00e9s par la continuit\u00e9 des surfaces et la discontinuit\u00e9 des nappes aqueuses. Le d\u00e9placement \u00e0 longue distance d\u00e9pend donc des inondations ou de bioturbations. Le mycelium \u00e9tablit un r\u00e9seau dense qui procure une ressource de nutriments et de surfaces colonisables, qui sont deux conditions essentielles pour un transfert de g\u00e8nes entre bact\u00e9ries.<br \/>\nLe mycelium du sol favorise donc les transferts de g\u00e8nes en agissant comme r\u00e9seau de transport, un concept d\u00e9crit comme les \u00ab autoroutes fongiques \u00bb.<br \/>\nT.
