This silvicultural approach, alternative to systematic clear-cutting, favours sustainable forest management which respects ecosystems and combines ecological benefits with financial sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the case studies reveal financial and structural obstacles, such as subsidies favouring intensive logging and a lack of training. European policies are needed to encourage forestry practices that promote biodiversity, local communities and climate resilience, while ensuring sustainable income.
